Osasuna Names Luis Miguel Ramis as Head Coach
Luis Miguel Ramis appeared at his first press conference as head coach of Club Atlético Osasuna at El Sadar, where he outlined his vision for the team.
Ramis said he wants supporters to feel engaged and proud of their club.
“What I hope is that the fans enjoy themselves, that they enjoy this team. The essence that this stadium and this fan base have must not be betrayed by the team. They never have until now. Above all, I want that spirit to remain throughout the season, no matter the circumstances. Every time we put on this jersey, it should be to display the behaviors and responsibilities required of a club like this. That is the objective, that is my hope. We work for the people, so that they come here and play the game with us. I think that’s important, and when they are not with us, or are in the minority away from home, they should do so as well. If the team feels this way, and we get that message across from the field to the stands, everything will go much better and we’ll grow as the season progresses. That’s what coaches want from our teams.”
Ramis was also asked about his emotions after signing with the club. He emphasized the excitement and sense of responsibility he feels.
“We are overflowing with excitement. We want to take advantage of this opportunity, and we are in the right place at the right time. We are the kind who work quietly, focusing on what we want from the players so that the group expresses that every day in competition for our fans.
We have a tremendous sense of responsibility—our supporters need to know that. We have to bring that excitement and spirit because that is what this stadium and these fans demand from us.
Hopefully we can reach them; we’re going to try. We are a coaching staff that is passionate about what we do. I think the team conveys that, or will convey it, and without a doubt, we will try to make sure that the fans, the team, the club and the staff form a puzzle in which everything fits and we can all feel proud. And that we will be a team through the end of the season,” he said.
The coach discussed his approach with the current squad and what he expects from his players going forward.
“We know the team has individuals and talent, but in a team sport like this, all those pieces that start the game and later participate must fit together and complement each other.
Above all, we want to give them a clear idea—a clear idea of what we want in every match. Obviously, there is an identity, a mark that characterizes us, and we have to work on it with the squad so that it comes out on the field. They must believe in it, see that it works, feel good, and above all, it must lead to performance, effort and victories.
It must lead us to be a team that delivers what our fans demand: spirit, effort and intensity from the first minute. This is very important. We do not want to waste moments in the season.
As for the playing structure, we will work on it and see how it develops. We want a stable, recognizable, balanced team that values every phase of the game. More than us knowing what we want, we must make sure the squad truly understands it so the players develop it and take us to what we want: a team that is intense, recognizable and that makes people proud—a hallmark or essence this club has always had with its players and the way they are expected to perform on the field.”
Braulio Vázquez: "He is the right person to lead the team"
Sporting Director Braulio Vázquez elaborated on why he believes Ramis is a good fit for Osasuna, highlighting his background and adaptability. “Beyond the personal interview we had with him, in my opinion, he has the adaptability required for this team. He was at Real Madrid Castilla with a very specific group of players, playing one way; he was at Albacete playing another way; and more recently at Burgos or Tenerife, perhaps with a similar system. I think he has the right age and experience. It also adds value that, as a player, he won league titles and was part of big teams like Deportivo La Coruña and Real Madrid. Obviously, that also helps with group management. Considering all of that, we believe he is the right person, along with his staff, to lead our club next season. We thank him for trusting our club and joining us.”
